No Bed of Roses 2001© Patricia Simko In this piece,
a house is being emptied of its contents. The boxes in front of the fence
hold the discarded belongings of a person departed, represented by the
butterfly. The rose garden has been obscured, even trampled by the mass
of discarded possessions. The loss is felt on many levels. The house itself
appears slightly decrepit, and seems to be sinking into the water. |
